In 2013, Anique Radiant Heart, High Priestess of the Temple of the Global Goddess in Australia received a vision (attached) to gather the world’s Priestesses at an International Convocation.
A “convocation” is described by The New Dictionary as:
- The act of convoking.
- A group of people convoked, especially the members of a college or university community who are assembled for a ceremony.
- A clerical assembly of the Anglican Church similar to a synod but assembling only when called.
- An assembly of the clergy and representative laity of a section of a diocese of the Episcopal Church.
The International Priestess Convocation which will take place in Crete in 2020 can be described this way:
A gathering of Priestesses from around the world to share and create information; plan ongoing activities; ground the Motherworld.
Why are we gathering?
In the past 20 years, there has been a burgeoning of Goddess Studies and Priestess Trainings. In the UK alone, Kathy Jones and her community of Priestesses, have trained and worked with Priestesses who have now begun the same work in many countries.
Goddess Temples, with attendant Priestesses and Priestess Trainings have blossomed in Europe, Canada, the USA, Mexico, Argentina, and Australia. There are Facebook pages with literally thousands of women, who identify as Priestess, and others where the word used is Shaman/Shamanka yet what is being shared is the work of a Priestess.
With all this activity and creativity, why are we still waiting for the Goddess to take Her rightful place of Spiritual Authority in the world?
Many of us who are trained/ordained Priestesses are doing many things……. sometimes in groups yet more often than not in isolation. In traveling the world, I have found that women are seeking to connect….to share and learn from each other.
There is also the power of coming together and how that proximity/propinquity manifests into the world as projects designed to bring Her into global focus as Centre.
Yet even with the many and powerful ways available to us for networking, nothing works quite as well as when we gather in Her name, with a specific intention.
After 5,000 years of patriarchal travail, it is time for the Priestesses to gather once again, as we did for thousands of years before the “change”.
What will we do when we gather?
There are two fundamental reasons why we shall gather:
- To share what we are doing in service to Her in our own lands
- To co-create a sustained series of global events similar to the Harmonic Convergence in 1987
How will this unfold?
We have found the perfect venue – Kalimera Kriti Hotel and Village Resort in Malia… www.kalimerakriti.gr
One of the most challenging aspects of conferences and gatherings, is that in an effort to give as many women as possible a forum for their work, there is always such a large choice of offerings in any time slot, so that often we miss out on experiencing a sister’s offering because we have to make a choice.
This International Priestess Convocation will be presented in full plenary for all sessions.
Ordained/Trained Priestesses will be invited to put forward proposals for 1½ hour s or 3 hour experiences about the work they do in their lands. This must be original work, designed to move the Global Goddess Movement forward. Of particular interest will be work developed to create/support Temples and Priestess Trainings.
A Circle of Elders will be appointed, from the Global Pool of Senior Priestesses to choose who will share their work.
We the Convocation will span 7 days.
Where shall we stay?
The emphasis for this International Priestess Convocation is to make it as accessible to women as possible.
There are a number of accommodation options to choose from – and this is entirely up to you.
The most expensive will be the Conference Resort, then there are a number of hotels ranging in price to quite reasonable rates of €40/night. If you do not wish to stay in a hotel, there all sorts of options.
In other words, accommodation and meals are not part of what you will pay to attend.
What kind of activities will you enjoy?
This is what a typical day might look like:
Wake up in a beautiful location, and enjoy a sumptuous breakfast of your choice then make your way to the Convocation. It is the first day and you are very excited.
As you arrive, you marvel at the huge outdoor sculpture of the Goddess in all her many colours and expressions, greeting you.
Many women are also approaching, and you recognise old friends and new as you begin the gorgeous process of sisters meeting sisters as we gather.
As you enter the foyer of the Grand Hall, you notice the art….such beauty from all over the world. You are greeted by Priestesses who stamp your forehead with a Crescent Moon if you do not already have one, and check you off the list of attendees whilst also giving you a gorgeous goodie bag of gifts from Priestesses all over the world.
Another Priestess leads you to the refreshments table where a lovely array of iced teas await you.
You are now part of a small group of old friends so you find a place to sit down. Soon the Hall is filled and the lights are turned down.
The sound of many drums is heard from the back of the Hall, so you turn to see a breathtaking procession of Priestesses, in their particular land’s colours and symbols, bare breasted, each wearing a Lunary to describe their Calling, with Sacred Skirts with the same design and carrying a banner of their Land.
These are the Conch Priestesses, those who have made the Call and held the energy of the Convocation in their Land. Leading the procession is a Priestess, holding a large Conch shell and making a Call/Honouring as the procession passes the Sacred Altars in the Hall. Many lands are represented and the procession brings many tears to many an eye, as we understand the power and beauty of our Global Priestesshood.
The Priestesses take their places on the stage and around the Hall, and the opening Ceremony begins.
The day unfolds…….as Priestesses from around the world share their work.
There is a generous lunch break, and some free time before we reconvene for the afternoon activities.
Again, a generous break for dinner and then Ceremony and Goddess Culture offerings. The final program will be a group co-creation overseen by the Circle of Elders.
Organisation and support
It is envisioned that there will be quite a large Global Organisation Group in the lead up to the Convocation. This will require 4 tiers of planning and co-ordination:
Circle of Elders: Global Perspective
Main duty to consider who shall be chosen to present their work
Co-create the ceremonies
Conch Priestesses: Regional Perspective
Main duty to put out the call in their lands and be the contact point for all information/enquiry in that land.
Melissae Priestesses: Local Perspective
To be the contact at a local (towns/cities/other) in each land and supporting the Regional Conch Priestess.
Worker Bees: At the Convocation
Main duties to help create/set-up/take down the Convocation and also to support in the lead up with any creative/administrative/other duties which need to be undertaken.
The world as we know it is changing at a remarkably fast pace. Not all the changes are positive, although some are. We, as Her Priestesses, have a responsibility to have an input to these Global needs. To do so effectively, we need to work together.
Building strong networks and deepening trust between us – through a Global Perspective – is critical to building a strong grass roots movement which can and will inspire all who are touched by it.
We have a Vision – the Vision of the Motherworld. We do not need to re-invent the Wheel.
Let us join together, in true Sisterhood, and begin the Global Work of bringing the Motherworld into Reality.
With deepest love and blessings,
Anique Radiant Heart
Holy Elder of the
Temple of the Global Goddess
